The kids are walking home from school….and dropping their bags right at the door of the Music Hall as they find the best spot in the crowd before everyone comes through to the show. Radio City Music Hall is a music lover’s heaven - and an architect’s favorite spectacle to hear all their favorite bands of the year. Radio City Music Hall is located right in Midtown by the Rockefeller Center - and is one of the staple venues of Manhattan for all of the established artists and eclectic new acts coming to the city for their Big Apple debut. With over ninety years of history and decades of bringing NYC closer to all their favorites - there’s no mistaking Radio City when you see it in the distance as you’re walking to the front doors for one of the best night’s of your life. And we expect that same energy when The Indigo Girls take the stage this summer. On tour with Mellisa Etheridge, their 2025 Yes We Are Tour is for all the gals out there who want to be heard and love to rock and roll with all their friends right in the middle of the dance floor. And this tour is massive folks - it’ll be hitting stops like Colorado’s Red Rocks in July, Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago. The Minnesota State Fair, Texas Trust Theatre down in Grand Prairie, Route 66 Casino, and of course - the heart of New York City here at the Music Hall.
There’s no mistaking the old western vibes the Indigo Girls bring whenever they touch the mic - but also it’s amazing how well they transition from old stories about childhood to random drunken bar nights all in the same album. Formed in Atlanta back in the mid 80s, Amy Ray and Emily Sailers met in elementary school, started performing together in high school, and made it big by their university years. They came up with their band name almost spontaneously - finding the word indigo in the dictionary back around college time and wanting to use a pseudonym that was harder hitting. Wanting to hint at depth, emotional lyrics, and everything in between - the name stuck, and the rest is indie folk music history. Since their debut album Strange Fire, almost all of their projects have gone gold or platinum. They've built a legacy of bringing folk rock back to the mainstream, and are a blueprint for how you can be an activist while also rocking out on stage every night if you’re really about that life. There’s no other duo that does this better - and that’s why we’re so excited to have them this September here at Radio City.
So, like we said before - y’all won’t want to miss this one, folk family! Grab all your besties, and let’s roll! Let’s go to the show! We’ll see you real soon - right here on Americas Avenue!
