Diana Ross has a list of achievements longer than a CVS receipt; in the 60's, she was one-third of the legendary trio The Supremes, with whom she made a total of twelve number-one hit singles on the US Billboard Hot 100, including Where Did Our Love Go, Baby Love, Come See About Me, and Love Child. The group remains the best charting female group of all time to this day.
After leaving The Supremes, Diana pursued a solo career, which, unsurprisingly, was also incredibly successful. Her first solo album spawned the two chart-topping hits Ain't No Mountain High Enough and the anthem Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand). Over the course of her next several albums, Diana would continue to top the charts. 27 of her singles reached the Billboard top 40 in the US, 12 of them the Billboard top 10, and six of those reached number one, placing her in a tie for fifth among the top female solo performers who have reached the top spot there.
Ross has also achieved mainstream success and recognition as an actor. Her first role was her Golden Globe Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated portrayal of Billie Holiday in the film Lady Sings the Blues. She also recorded its soundtrack, which became a number-one hit on the U.S. album chart. She also starred in two other feature films, Mahogany and The Wiz, and later appeared in the television films Out of Darkness, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award, and Double Platinum.
As a cherry on top of all of her success, Diana was named Female Entertainer of the Century by Billboard in 1976, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and was given a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
